The celebrity-favorite Dukan diet has been named "one of the 5 most dangerous diets in 2011" by the British Dietetic Association. Created by French physician Pierre Dukan, this meal plan has been around for many years. It is widely believed that it promotes significant weight loss that can be easily maintained over time. But in fact, many experts do not advise to follow it. There are other, healthier and less strict nutrition plans for weight loss. Kate Middleton and the mother of the Duchess of Cambridge reportedly followed this restrictive diet.
The Duchess of Cambridge followed a high-protein, low-carb plan to get herself in shape for her 2011 wedding to Prince William. Maire Claire Australia notes that Middleton continues to resort to dieting whenever she needs to urgently lose a few pounds.
Kate's mom, Carol Middleton, is also reportedly a fan of the Dukan diet and uses shrimp and cottage cheese to curb her cravings. In fact, Closer Online reports that it was she who recommended the diet to the Duchess after losing four pounds in just four days.
Meanwhile, Pippa Middleton's younger sister has made it clear that she is not a fan of fancy diets. In a column for Waitrose, she explained, "I've never tried the Dukan diet, tried the Atkins diet, or exercised seven days a week."
However, "I believe in healthy choices." Among them are "minimizing refined carbohydrates, such as white bread and pasta, and maintaining reasonable portion sizes."
